We want to help people. It's what we do in our day jobs. It's what we try to do outside of work. And it's what we want to do with Coleville Properties.

We stumbled into the world of investing almost by accident. During the height of the COVID pandemic, we were living in Rhode Island, but travel options were limited, so we vacationed on Cape Cod in a little beach cottage we bought a few years earlier, affectionately called The Piping Plover.

After falling in love with the natural beauty of the area, we decided to move here full time. While we cherished the cozy nights and sun-soaked days at "The Plove," it wasn't big enough for our growing family and instead, we converted it to a short term rental.

We posted the listing in one of the Cape Cod Rental groups on Facebook, and there was a quick backlash about yet another property taken off the map, made unavailable to the people who actually live here.

We were reminded of other areas -- San Francisco, Seattle, Boston -- where the people who work in our hospitals, cook our food, and teach our kids couldn't live where they work. And we decided to be part of the solution.

We're helping to take back the Cape, as it were, for local residents by securing local single and multifamily houses, making them safe and updated, and then renting them out to those who live here.

Recently, one of our tenants mentioned that they thought our listing was a scam because it was a year-round rental that allowed pets. Nope, we're just trying to do the right thing. And then she said "You know you could make more money on Air B&B, right?"

We know, but we're just trying to do the right thing for our community and set a good example for our two kids!
